Malaysia to Host World’s Largest Post-Quantum Cryptography Conference

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is set to make history as the host of the world’s largest Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Conference, scheduled to take place from 28 to 30 October at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre here.

More than 2,500 cybersecurity experts, academics and industry leaders from around the globe are expected to attend, making it the largest international platform dedicated to post-quantum digital security to date.

The three-day programme will feature high-level discussions and technical workshops covering research developments, global standards, implementation strategies and new policy frameworks designed to safeguard digital infrastructure from emerging quantum computing threats, which are anticipated to compromise traditional encryption systems.

Malaysia strengthens regional digital leadership

Conference Chair Paul van Brouwershaven said the world is at a critical juncture in digital security as quantum computing advances reshape the global cybersecurity landscape.

“This week marks a decisive shift from planning to implementing post-quantum security measures,” he said. “Malaysia was selected due to its strategic role and strong commitment to advancing regional digital trust and cybersecurity capabilities.”

The opening day will focus on technical workshops, live demonstrations and sector-specific sessions involving telecommunications, finance, healthcare and government stakeholders on modernising cryptographic systems.

Government keynote & national readiness plan

On the second and third day, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital is scheduled to deliver a keynote address outlining Malaysia’s roadmap towards building a quantum-resilient ASEAN region.

The National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) will also present Malaysia’s national post-quantum preparedness strategy, detailing key security standards and policy initiatives.

More than 70 international experts are slated to speak across specialised technical sessions, covering international security standards, cybersecurity governance and pathways for implementing next-generation encryption.

Global report & continued cooperation

Following the conference, a global summary report will be released, outlining key insights, best practices and recommendations to accelerate post-quantum transition efforts across governments and industries worldwide.

The event is regarded as a significant milestone for Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region in advancing digital security and readiness for the quantum era.

The next PQC Conference will be held in Munich, Germany, in November 2026.

The Kuala Lumpur event is supported by the Government of Malaysia, Ministry of Digital, NACSA, Pos Digicert, Baker Tilly and MSC Trustgate.
